UB service

Heather Maciejewski and Zenna Nephew, parent leader at the Native American Magnet School (NAMS), School 19 in Buffalo. Heather Maciejewski, a 7/8th grade science teacher at NAMS, worked with a select group of undergraduates and graduate students at the University at Buffalo in the summer of 2005 as part of the effort to develop interdisciplinary middle school science curricula that illustrates the connection between biology, chemistry and physics. In fall 2005, the curriculum was supported by 12 UB students, from freshman to graduate students, physics, chemistry, biochemistry and chemical and electrical engineers, working in a service learning project on implementing more experimental support and an experimental, hands-on science program for after-school science.
